But can you blame me!? I've got more important stuff to do. Like cooking a baby! This baby doesn't want to be born yet. I haven't had any Braxton Hicks contractions, I'm only dilated about 1 cm (maybe), baby's head isn't engaged on my cervix and I'm five days from my due date!

My doctor doesn't want me to go past 41 weeks, since the baby is already measuring about 8.6 #s, which is what I weighed at birth! The hospital won't let me go past 42 weeks. SOoooo, since I don't really want to try to birth a 10 pounder, I'm probably going to be induced on the 7th or 8th. My next doctor's appt is tomorrow morning with a nurse practitioner, whom I have never met. Then, my next appt is the day after my due date, on the 6th. My doctor and I will decide then when to schedule my induction.

Prayers for an all-natural, smooth delivery would be wonderful! I can't wait to meet our little "Acorn!" Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08542006311190052093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4694145697730238948.post-29604331257966325262013-06-06T10:08:00.001-07:002013-06-06T10:08:22.264-07:0031 Weeks and 3 days
Playing music for the baby resulted in a lopsided baby bump! He/she moved to be closer to the music!

The baby had his/her face too close to the placenta to get any really good pics and the woman doing the sonogram was not the best at her job. I really prefer the girl who did our sonogram two weeks ago, but she was not there. So we spent $175 for some really blurry and mostly unrecognizable photos and a video. Not worth it, in my opinion. The little black and white 3D shot we got a few weeks ago was better than this:

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Although, that has to be the cutest little yawn in utero, ever! I am so excited to meet our little acorn! He/She kept putting his/her hands over his/her face the entire time we were there, so there are very few clear shots without a hand in the way.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I didn't get to see my doctor at this last appointment and I have only seen her maybe twice. We're getting down to the wire and it's starting to tick me off that she's NEVER there. For our next appointment (next week), I am determined to stay all day if I have to so we can go over my birth plan. I self-diagnosed this breakout that's all over my chest, back, and shoulders, as pruritic foliculitis. I told the nurse practitioner and she said that's not what it is. I think I just need to ask the doctor...
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Other than the acne-like breakout, I'm doing great! My feet are more apt to swell lately if I am on them for too long, but as long as I can get off of them, it doesn't bother me too badly. Still peeing every 20 minutes or so and still unable to sleep comfortably for very long.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My friend Rebecca is due in June and I would greatly appreciate it if y'all would please pray for her and her baby boy to have a safe and smooth delivery!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Til next time!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Only 11 weeks left!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I'm feeling great and everything is going really well! I had my glucose test two weeks ago and I do not have gestational diabetes. I also had my thyroid levels checked again and they're well under the limit during pregnancy.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My placenta has moved up and is no longer near my cervix! YAY!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">At our last appointment, the baby was head down, but I'm

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">certain he/she has turned since then! This little acrobat has been flipping

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">like crazy lately!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have an abundance of fluid, which is great. Just makes me feel like

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">a water balloon. lol.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My blood pressure has been perfect every appointment and it was 100/55 two

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">weeks ago on the 10th.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Other than heartburn, peeing every thirty minutes or so (which has never

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">slacked off for the past 20 weeks or so, especially at night!), and horrible

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">acne-like rashes on my chest and back, I haven't had any new symptoms.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well, my feet do swell more often now, especially if I'm on them

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">too long or I don't drink enough water during the day.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">All the baby boy and girl clothes from newborn to 3 months have been washed,

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">folded and hung up! We're pretty much prepared for our little bundle of joy as

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">far as clothing him/her! Baby shower is on June 2nd and then

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">we'll have a better idea of what we still need to get.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here's our little "acorn"!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> Our next appointment is this Friday. I will update on how we're both doing then!

Barely even remember to update Facebook every once in awhile, let alone keep up with two blogs! :P

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So, my nesting instinct has kicked in. I feel like it kicked in early, but maybe not. I have a friend that I went to school with who is pregnant also and she is not as far along as I am and has already bought nursery furniture! Kudos to her!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The week before last, on a Thursday I believe, I had Jeremy help me rearrange the bedroom and clean it up. We moved the bed from one wall to the other wall and then moved the rest of the stuff in the room around it. I had been cleaning like a fool that day and after doing laundry, cleaning the kitchen, washing dishes and picking up our room, I decided I couldn't stand the bed the way it was, so I HAD to rearrange it! LOL.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The following Monday, I felt that we needed to go ahead and start getting the nursery room ready so that the baby would have somewhere to be when he/she arrives. (which is not for quite awhile, I'm praying!) Anywho...I had Jeremy help me move the bedroom we had just rearranged (which is the smaller of the two bedrooms in our apartment) to the actual master bedroom, which is on the other side of the apartment. :) Only took forever! Of course, he won't let me lift anything so it took even longer because he was basically doing it all by himself. We got our bedroom set up and functional and I proceeded to switch the bathroom stuff that we needed, to the bathroom in the master bedroom.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Needless to say, we didn't get completely done, so the room that is intended for the nursery is still a giant mess because we have more stuff than we know what to do with. Jeremy did, however, get all the baby stuff into the closet in that room and moved all the other junk that was in the closet of the spare room (which used to be the master, but is now our room...confused yet?) to the storage closet. He also shoved all my scrapbooking stuff in there! :( We just have to haul off all the stuff we don't want that we've been trying to donate for several months and then rearrange somewhere to get all the stuff that is not baby-friendly out of the room. Phew! Nesting is hard work!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">That same week, we got a brand-new LG washer and dryer and I am all set to start washing some baby clothes! I can't wait! Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08542006311190052093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4694145697730238948.post-40780777185576509272013-03-19T11:08:00.002-07:002013-03-19T11:08:49.803-07:0020 Weeks!<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I've reached that middle-of-the-pregnancy milestone. I feel like the time is just flying by!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">We went to the doctor Friday to watch our baby groove! I really couldn't see much because the sonographer kept telling me to lay my head back...
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Please keep in mind, we do NOT want to know the gender! I had to get up at 6 am to get ready for my OBGYN appointment today and I only got a few hours of sleep last night because J was snoring so loudly.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anywho, the baby is doing well and is really active! He/She was facing my spine today during the sonogram (couldn't get a good monitoring on the heartbeat with the portable detector thingy, so we got to see the baby today! Woot!) and was wiggling around a lot! He/She had his/her feet crossed at the ankles and the technician was able to get a really good pic of one of the feet. :P

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We went to Babies R' Us Friday night and bought the stroller/carseat combo. J picked it out, but since I like the colors, it's easy to fold and one of the top brands sold, I really like it.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here's a pic of it on Babies R' Us' website. There is a better pic here. The color/pattern is Zest! It's really lime-green and charcoal. Whaddya think?

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> Well...that's all for now. Next month, I'll have the anatomy screening which means I'll get a DVD of my little wiggly acorn! Yay!

I turn over in bed and my breasts hurt, my stomach hurts and my hips hurt. I'm constantly turning so my hips aren't under too much pressure. *phew* It's a workout trying to sleep. I know I need to get my sleep in now before the baby comes, but this is impossible! I already sleep with five pillows!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyone have any recommendations for being more comfortable? Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08542006311190052093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4694145697730238948.post-71024888885340950052013-01-31T12:55:00.000-08:002013-01-31T12:55:50.167-08:002nd Trimester...here I come! <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Yep, I've reached my second trimester and I haven't written a blog post in a really long time. Sorry 'bout that. Pregnancy makes you forget EVERYTHING! Here is a list of a few things that have changed or developed (read: ramblings):
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Pooping is easier..I KNOW you all wanted to know that!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The <strike>morning sickness</strike> all-day nausea (progesterone poisoning) has eased up some. Only nauseous now when I don't get enough sleep or enough to eat.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm distracted ALL the time. Like right now...I'm supposed to be writing a thesis statement for a Literature paper...haven't even read the material or requirements.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My hair is still falling out in huge clumps...not cool! I thought it was supposed to get thicker and shinier.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm hot all the time. I'm currently wearing a night shirt and undies. It's only 46°F outside.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am never comfortable at night and can't sleep most of the time. I sleep with 5 pillows, two huge stuffed caterpillars (which double as pillows) and a very loud snoring husband.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Everything makes me hungry...or nauseous. If people are talking about food on Facebook...I get the munchies. If people are talking about gross stuff (bacon-wrapped deep-fried snickers) I get nauseous.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have completed my Babies 'R' Us Registry, including online and going into the store with the hubby. Scanning stuff is fun!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I went through the baby clothes for boy and girl last night ( I have all of my sister's son and daughters' hand-me-downs) and took out enough outfits for at the hospital and the first week at home. Since we aren't finding out the gender of our little "acorn," I want to be prepared. (Yes, at three months!)

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My dog (who was supposed to have been spayed) is in heat. That is so gross.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">My main blog, <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Honey Bunches of "Oaks"<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> is still sporting a Christmas layout. I will soon remedy that....hopefully.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Between my sister and I, there are at least 20 pregnant friends/acquaintances on FB.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It is almost three o'clock and I have accomplished absolutely nothing today...

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I hope all you other preggos out there are doing well. As I have only one follower ATM, and she is my Bestie...I doubt there is even anyone reading this. But have a great day Jaybee!
Let me tell you now, that was not a pleasant experience. When I finally did manage to poop, I could barely walk afterwards and the toilet was clogged up. {There is a disclaimer on this site...I warned you it could be graphic...}

Thanks to the miracle of MiraLax, I am able to poop a little more freely now and have learned my lesson about not drinking enough water.

Also, no one told me that if you get sick when you're pregnant, you can't take anything that will make you feel better...bah humbug! Whitneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08542006311190052093noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4694145697730238948.post-9103942756610159472012-12-26T14:54:00.003-08:002012-12-26T14:54:33.042-08:00I peed on the stick, now what?<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The day I found I was pregnant was the most exciting day of my life. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for two months. I couldn't believe that we had actually succeeded!

December 3rd, I was sitting in my office, working on my English final and I had to pee. I hadn't started my period, so I decided to take a pregnancy test. I peed on the stick and then went to get something from the kitchen to drink. When I came back in the bathroom, the pregnancy test already showed a clear positive. I was in shock. I even dug the instructions back out of the trash to make sure I wasn't reading it wrong. Nope, I was still pregnant!

The first thing I did was call my sister. I made her swear not to tell anyone if I told her a secret. She swore and then I told her. She was so excited! She told me I needed to call the doctor and make an appointment. I did all that, but then what was I supposed to do!? Well, of course I had to tell my husband! But it was still 3 hours before he got home from work! So, I googled ways to tell him the big news!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I made two circles from construction paper, one pink and one blue. I wrote "Guess what?" on one side of each and "Mama's Pregnant" on the other sides. I laminated the circles with tape and punched a hole in the top to tie a string through. Then I humiliated my dogs by making them wear the circles until my husband got home. :) When he came home, he couldn't get the girls to sit still long enough to read it. When he finally did read it, he said, "Are you really?" Then he cried. Lemme tell ya, I have a great husband.

Since we've found out that we're going to be parents, my husband, Jeremy has been really great about taking care of me and making sure I take my vitamins and eat right. I've been sick for about a month now and he has been to Wal-Mart more times than I'm sure he would like to admit. Eventually I'm going to be better again...hopefully.
